A theater director said that going to the theater should give the same feeling as falling down a flight of stairs. 'That goes for all art I think' she continued. Cocorosie, a New York sister band with ties to Antony And The Johnsons, have a remarkable ability to create haunting but still beautiful music. Their song Werewolf is a great example of art that is very difficult to escape being emotionally effected by. A person commenting on Youtube explained the plot of the song as following:
'She is telling a story to her son about her troubled adolescence and how her father had sex with her before he died, then suspecting that she was pregnant, she runs away, then gets picked up by another guy who resembles her father, and that guy has sex with her too, so she tells her son that she honestly doesn't know who his father is, but she says don't worry just shake it off, like I did.'
This topic could be unbearable if not handled the right way, but Cocorosie have both the poetic ability and dreamy sound scape to fill this song not only with pain, but also a with a unsettling feeling of beauty and mystery.
