Collectives and a decadent rebel

Yours Truly Presents: The Morning Benders "Excuses" from Yours Truly on Vimeo.

A Singaporean friend of mine posted this video on someones Facebook wall. It was not my wall. But that is ok, it is still a great piece of video. A bunch of San Francisco musicians in a room singing a indie anthem. It feels very collective and cosy and nice. Those are generally seen as positive things, I've heard. In other news, my media blogging friend, and MW Communication founder has recommended airportline to an editor at a Swedish magazine by describing me as an 'international decadent rebel born in the 80s who loves indie music and movies like Me and you and everyone we know.' That does seem like a somewhat glorified description of myself, but hey, as Tracyanne Campbell in Camera Obscura sings: 'I need all the love I can get'.

This is for someone that doesn't feel so good at the moment.
A cheer me up video.
In exactly one week Camera Obscura will be on stage at Paradiso in Amsterdam. I will get back to this later in the week. For now listen, watch, laugh or cry. All is appropriate to this gem.

Minimalism and Volkswagen

Grey sky outside the window. We made it to Berlin, it took a long time. We passed Wolfsburg on the train and the whole city is a Volkswagen factory. My friends room mate claimed that Hitler built that city, maybe he was just pissed of that Wolfsburg won the german league and not his favorite team Bayern Munchen. There might have been a famous Italian person on the train, but my Italian compatriot could not decide his name. And my friend lives in 'Mitte' and his apartment has two floors, they are all wood and the walls are white and if MTV-cribs would come here they would, yeah, I don't know, say it looks as minimalistic as German electro? I'm pretending to do some work while my friend is doing real work. Soon I take his map which he has marked second hand store on and begin my excursion. But first I'm gonna listen to some more Camera Obscura, take another cappucino and relax/pretend study some more. You can't live to fast in Berlin, its not good for you.

High expectations

Even though I like most my rap urban (read Jay-Z, Nas, Kanye West), wicked (Lil Wayne, Dizzee Rascal, M.I.A.) or minimalist (Clipse, Pharrell) there is also room for some old school stuff in airportlines playlist. So tonight me and my French associate are putting on the same clothes as everyday to roll down to Paradiso and the sold out concert with CunninLynguists, the Kentucky underground (debatable) rappers with a smell of grits, a distaste for bling and a love for weed. Amsterdam seems to be the perfect venue for this eclectic group that sample everything that sound old and souly. Expectations are high, get it, high, ok, sorry.

Then I will bike home and listen to the fabulous new album by the literary pop nerds in Camera Obscura, My Maudlin Career which recently was hyped in a Pitchfork review so maybe it's finally time for this wounderful pop orchestra, who inspired me to name one of my first short stories Books Written For Girls after the title of one of their songs, to finally reach a bigger audience.
