A morning

It was early morning for someone who went to bed at 05.30. The phone in my room which is connected to the door downstairs rang. When I answered no one was there. The content in my head was spinning as it tried to understand why the rest of my body was not in bed anymore. I opened the window and my bare chest hit the cold morning air. Down by the front door a man with a packet was standing.

‘Do I have to come down?’ I asked with the same mouth in which I pored down beer after beer only a few hours earlier. He nodded. I put on yesterday’s clothes and the smell of cigarettes and beer that came with them.

After stumbling down the stairs the man gave me the packet with a book I forgot I ordered: The Paris Review Book of Heartbreak, Madness, Sex, Love, Betrayal, Outsiders, Intoxication, War, Whimsy, Horrors, God, Death, Dinner, Baseball, Travels, The Art Of Writing, And Everything Else in The World Since 1953. As you see, it is a compelling title to come across while browsing Ebay.

So I started reading the Lorrie Moore’s short story Terrific Mother in between sips of water in an attempt to peace together a sleep deprived mind. A few pages in the main character is out jogging with another woman, the following discussion occurs:

Adrienne tugged on her socks. “I don’t believe in casual sex.” She paused. “I believe in causal marriage.”
“Don’t look at me,” said Kate. “I married my husband because I was deeply in love with him.”
“Yeah, well,” said Adrienne. “I married my husband because I thought it would be a great way to meet guys.”

It was a strange morning, with some good reading.

You´re privileged man who still can be out all night, drinking beers at a Wednesday night. In my humdrum existence I’m always going to bed right after the news and sportnytt in order to spend the entire next day in front of a computer in a landscaped office.

Erik: We are currently in between semesters, that's why I've turned my life upside down during this week, so I can handle what's coming. But yes, it is not bad to be able to be out all night on a Tuesday and wake go to bed at 5.30. There is a lot of time wasting though, a lack of productivity to use some corporate lingua.
