The Airportline: Observations

Do you remember that Belgian man who was paralyzed for 20 years and then suddenly could communicate again? Well, turns out that he can't communicate at all, he is just conscious (which I guess is a good thing). But I, who thought this story was amazing, it made me think of one of my favorite movies of all time The Diving Bell and The Butterfly (based on the true story of a French Elle editor who gets a stroke that leaves him paralyzed and goes on to write a book (as amazing as the movie) by blinking with one eye), feel cheated by this inaccurate information. In this story in NRC International a scientist claim that "It was too good to be true and we shouldn't have believed it". Don't like things that turn out out be too good to be true.

You may think that there has been something a bit off with airportline lately. The steaming sentences of creativity does not flow as easily, or as often, as before. And for those of you with terrible music taste, it must have been difficult to browse through all those music videos. This is just to say that you are correct, you are a smart person. You can pat yourself on your shoulder now. I'll wait, don't be affraid. There has been drama in my life and time has been devoted to people leaving, people coming, concerts, and crossing out things in agendas. Yesterday I saw Ingmar Bergmans master piece Scenes From A Marriage and today I finished The Diving Bell and The Butterfly by Jean-Dominique Bauby. They made me see the value of art again. Maybe it will be better now, when I have a cold and my schedule has cleared a bit. I hope so, I hope that we're out of the slump and will once again put hearts on fire. Yes, in the same way as that great Cut Copy pop song from last year.

Let's get personal, Belle and Sebastian sounding gay New York band The Ballet sings in their song Personal. Airportline will also get a bit personal. As many of your have probably noticed the 25 things about me list swamped the world of Facebook a few months ago. I'm bridging the void between the social network world and the so called blogosphere (which is a highly contested concept) by posting my own 25 list here, on my blog, starting, today.

1. I have cried during two movies: Lassie when I was seven, and The Diving Bell and The Butterfly one year ago.

2. Once I got kicked out from a Cat Power concert because I was yelling for her to play the song Maybe Not too many times (I blame youth, and Jägermesister). Interestingly enough, she played the song first, and had me kicked out afterwards.

3. I have been blogging four and a half years, first in Swedish and since January in English. I've also written for several music fanzines, this has not made me rich. I’ve also written for some magazines, also didn’t make me rich.

4. When I lived in Malaysia I knew two music nerds that worked in a music store in Kuala Lumpur. They fooled me into believing that the best Sonic Youth album was Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star. With this I want to say that I am easily fooled.

5. I’m what Wikipedia describe as a Private Christian (Believe in God and in doing good things, but not within a church context). This surprise a lot of people, maybe due to my lifestyle, and my love for rap lyrics about dealing cocaine.
