A few months ago I was encouraged to answer various questions concerning the 30 most listened to artists on my last.fm profile. During a feverish June evening I wrote more or less thoughtful answers to these questions which I amid to publish on Facebook at some point. That point never came, since I never do what I intend on doing. So, now I will make a new plan (which I most likely will fail to adhere to as well) and publish some of these short texts on airportline instead. With videos. Here is the fifth post in this new series.

What is your favorite song by 5 (Stars)?
Your Ex-Lover is Dead. One of my all time favorite songs. It revolves around two people that once had a relationship who meet again and realize that it meant nothing. It all comes together with beautiful strings, and when Amy Millan (who recently released her second solo album) enters with here soft voice and sings 'this scar is a flack on my porcelain skin, trying to reach deep but couldn't get in' its an example of how pop music with one male and one female singer create a tension that would not feel misplaced in an Ingmar Bergman movie.

Autumn Ball

There is no internet in my home. That is what I blame it on. I am suppose to be productive, write words, not in this space, but in another space. I call it 'thesis' and it is slowly building itself up to a pile of, many words. Some of them misspelled. Some of them wrong. And in the middle of all these words ideas and thoughts will spur. This is the idea. So that is what I have been doing. And yesterday, in the open air cinema festival Pluk De Nacht, I saw Autumn Ball, a movie that was so nordic and so dark and funny at the same time. It hurt watching it cause even if it is based in Estonia, there is a lot of Sweden in it. The director Veiko Õunpuu has combined the harshness of Ingmar Bergman with the almost bizzare atmosphere of Roy Andersson and made a portray of the north that made my stomach hurt. Fantastic. And the acting and photography? Forget about it! World class.

You are not an idiot

You may think that there has been something a bit off with airportline lately. The steaming sentences of creativity does not flow as easily, or as often, as before. And for those of you with terrible music taste, it must have been difficult to browse through all those music videos. This is just to say that you are correct, you are a smart person. You can pat yourself on your shoulder now. I'll wait, don't be affraid. There has been drama in my life and time has been devoted to people leaving, people coming, concerts, and crossing out things in agendas. Yesterday I saw Ingmar Bergmans master piece Scenes From A Marriage and today I finished The Diving Bell and The Butterfly by Jean-Dominique Bauby. They made me see the value of art again. Maybe it will be better now, when I have a cold and my schedule has cleared a bit. I hope so, I hope that we're out of the slump and will once again put hearts on fire. Yes, in the same way as that great Cut Copy pop song from last year.
