A few months ago I was encouraged to answer various questions concerning the 30 most listened to artists on my last.fm profile. During a feverish June evening I wrote more or less thoughtful answers to these questions which I amid to publish on Facebook at some point. That point never came, since I never do what I intend on doing. So, now I will make a new plan (which I most likely will fail to adhere to as well) and publish some of these short texts on airportline instead. With videos. Here is the fifth post in this new series.

What is your favorite song by 5 (Stars)?
Your Ex-Lover is Dead. One of my all time favorite songs. It revolves around two people that once had a relationship who meet again and realize that it meant nothing. It all comes together with beautiful strings, and when Amy Millan (who recently released her second solo album) enters with here soft voice and sings 'this scar is a flack on my porcelain skin, trying to reach deep but couldn't get in' its an example of how pop music with one male and one female singer create a tension that would not feel misplaced in an Ingmar Bergman movie.

A movement of time

I lived in a circus wagon in the countryside 5 kilometers from Germany, I biked through the wind and rain in Amsterdam and printed my thesis without my name on it, I rented a car and drove west listening to Whitest Boy Alive, I drove the same car east with Lykke Li in the cd player, and I held flowers in a graduation ceremony and had cool white wine and met someone who knew my name from seeing my picture on facebook, and I biked through rain again, and walked in the wind and picked someone up at a train-station and left someone at a train-station and I listen to Stars - Your-Ex Lover Is Dead while biking. I ate Turkish food so late that almost everyone else had left. There was no time and all of the time at the same time. Now its Sunday and yeah, it is Sunday and today there will be less movement.

When there is nothing left to burn

Airportline is busy. Things are piling up and yesterday he could be spotted in the south of Amsterdam carrying a mattress and wooden things on his bike. But, I will not leave you in need, so here I present one of my favorite songs of all time. This is how I describe it in a document I'm writing about the top 30 songs on my last.fm list.

About two people that once had a realtionship who meet again and realize that it meant nothing. With beautiful strings, and then when Amy Millan enters with her soft voice and sings 'this scar is a fleck on my porcelain skin, tried to reach deep but you couldn't get in' its an example of how great popmusic with one male and one female singer can be, how they can use different perspectives. A song that no one should miss.

A faliure to reflect on

Once after meeting one of my favorite bands at the time – Stars – in a nightclub in Berlin, I promised the singer Torquil Campell that I could help him get some weed when they played in Zürich, where I have a friend. He was talking a lot about weed, Torquil. I contacted my friend and checked if he could get him some. Unfortunately he was going to a wedding the same weekend they were playing there. And that is my only story involving trying to help a Canadian band touring Europe got get some weed. It’s not my greatest failure in life. But it’s still a failure I occasionally reflect on.

Later today The Week That Was explain what their song "The Airport Line" is all about.
