The one day holiday

Our Zürich correspondent went to Sardegna and found this cow. Airportline loves cows.

Airportline is on a one day holiday. After a weekend of news coding my head said that I needed a break. So I took one, booked a hostel in Valencia for Friday, applied for some jobs, transferred some money while grumping over the exchange rate, had coffee, made a copy of my passport and forgot my passport in the copy machine. Took a bike ride to deliver the copy of my passport. Realized I had forgotten my passport in the copy machine. Found my passport in the copy machine. Read Blink by Malcom Gladwell, watched one of last years best band Ra Ra Riot play in church on Pitchfork.tv, read about what happened when Charlemagne from The Economist met the Swedish King, and then this article where his love for Sweden blooms into full on infactuation.

Summer is in Amsterdam, it moved in just when we needed it. Every spot with sun is full of beer drinking, coffee sipping, newspaper reading, sunglasses wearing, people. The mentality has changed, random conversations appear between people, bikes go slower as their drivers make sure to catch as much sun as possible, it's all very plesant. The wind is still here, to make us remember that this still is Amsterdam, but it really doesnt matter. Airportline celebrates by putting on our nicest tennis clothes and biking to Westerpark for some tennis action. Tomorrow Airportlines Zürich associate, by some reffered to as Udo Dirkschneider arrives in the city. He reported about kids drinking red bull and vodka on the night train to Gent where is is now.

For you Swedish people, one of my favourite blogs bigtalkstrangewalk have included the book tips I gave to their writer Carolina for her trip to New York in this post. For those of you that hate clicking I suggested:

Keith Gessen - All The Sad Young Litterary Men
Elise Blackwell - Grub
Italo Calvino - If On A Winter's Night A Traveller

A faliure to reflect on

Once after meeting one of my favorite bands at the time – Stars – in a nightclub in Berlin, I promised the singer Torquil Campell that I could help him get some weed when they played in Zürich, where I have a friend. He was talking a lot about weed, Torquil. I contacted my friend and checked if he could get him some. Unfortunately he was going to a wedding the same weekend they were playing there. And that is my only story involving trying to help a Canadian band touring Europe got get some weed. It’s not my greatest failure in life. But it’s still a failure I occasionally reflect on.

Later today The Week That Was explain what their song "The Airport Line" is all about.
